The New Republic

I’ve been the Design Director since 2021. I art direct and design 10 issues of the magazine per year. I work closely with the editorial team to conceptualize the art for each issue and determine the most impactful ways to use our limited resources. I lead art meetings with the section editors to ensure the art communicates the core concepts of each story clearly while also delivering a visual punch. I directly assign 8 to 10 illustrations per issue, and oversee all photography assignments and research. I expanded the roster of illustrators to ensure diversity among our contributors. I manage the photo director and production director. And I consistently hit budget goals.
